From the introduction:
Thai for Advanced Learners fills a need that the author felt while teaching Thai to foreigners. Intermediate or fairly advanced students may know how to read Thai but not yet have the vocabulary to read a Thai newspaper or book without the tedium of constant dictionary lookups or the help of a tutor. A reader that presents new vocabulary and definitions and a pronunciation guide can be of tremendous help to students who want to progress from reading Thai textbooks for foreigners to reading material written for native Thai speakers. Thai for Advanced Learners helps to bridge that gap. Each reading has a vocabulary list where new and difficult words are introduced with their pronunciations and definitions. Most of the words that are not explained in this book are covered in Thai for Beginners and Thai for Intermediate Learners.
Benjawan Poomsan Becker has extensive experience teaching Thai to foreigners in Thailand, Japan and the US. Currently she lives in the San Francisco Bay area where she has a translation and interpretation business and writes books on the Thai language.
This course is also available as the book only or the book with two audio tapes.
