With Thai and English Text
Wat Khongkaram, located in Ampur Photharam, Ratchburi, is an important temple of the Mon community in the Maeklong basin. The architecture style shows the temple was constructed in the mid-Ayutthaya Period. Among the many interesting Thai arts at Wat Khongkaram are the outstanding mural paintings in the ubosot. The murals were originally painted in the Ayutthaya Period and were restored in the reign of King Rama IV.
In this book the murals have been gloriously photographed colour and documented in both Thai and English. Some of the photograph plates of the murals are fold out to give the reader a better idea of their context. The cover photo shows a very early depiction of foreigners visiting Siam.
