 Steve Van Beek has lived and worked in Bangkok since 1969. Much of his leisure time has been spent walking the streets, poking into lanes, and talking with its inhabitants to gain a feel for this great city. His early explorations led to his Bangkok Only Yesterday, published in 1980. He is the author of 21 books, including The Chao Phya: River in Transition, The Arts of Thailand, Slithering South, and numerous others dealing with Thailand's history and culture.
